Prism Research Glass is proud to offer the J-KEM Scientific, Inc. High Safety Temperature Controller. Designed for processes requiring uncompromising safety. The only temperature controller available with a built-in independent backup controller to guard against heating accidents from equipment failure. Enter the desired temperature into the main temperature controller which regulates heating, and then enter a high temperature cut-off into the backup limit controller. If the reaction reaches the high temperature limit or a thermocouple breaks, power is turned off to the heater until the controller is manually reset. Both meters independently monitor the reaction temperature. In the event that one meter fails, the other takes over to prevent a heating accident. J-KEM Scientific, Inc.’s design provides independent 100% redundant control. Contains J-KEM Scientific, Inc.’s patented power control computer which provides 0.1° regulation of anything.

Complete system includes: one controller, one dual element Teflon thermocouple (12″ long, 1/4″ diameter), one dual element connecting cord, and one 14/20 joint adapter.

System thermocouples are Teflon-coated and should not be used above 190° C

Teflon Information

Teflon, also known as PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), is a synthetic fluoropolymer with a wide range of applications due to its unique properties. Key specifications include high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance, low friction, and non-stick characteristics.

Borosilicate Glassware Information

Prism Research Glass makes our glassware of Borosilicate Glassware often referred to as Pyrex. Borosilicate glassware is made from a blend of silica and boron trioxide. It is the standard for laboratory use because of its chemical resistance to various chemicals. This resistance makes it suitable for diverse laboratory applications. It is highly resistant to chemical attack by most substances, including water, acids, and organic solvents.

Borosilicate has a low coefficient of thermal expansion which means it can withstand rapid temperature changes. It can typically handle temperature ranges between -80°C (-112°F) and 500°C (930°F) without cracking and typically has a melting point of around 1650°C (3000°F).
