Description
The Cyanide Scrubber Apparatus reflux distillation causes cyanide complexes to release from hydrocyanic acid and capture in a scrubber containing a solution of sodium hydroxide. The first bubbler acts as a scrubber for cyanides and the second bubbler absorbs cyanide.

It is the standard for laboratory use because of its chemical resistance to various chemicals. This resistance makes it suitable for diverse laboratory applications. It is highly resistant to chemical attack by most substances, including water, acids, and organic solvents.
Borosilicate has a low coefficient of thermal expansion which means it can withstand rapid temperature changes. It can typically handle temperature ranges between -80°C (-112°F) and 500°C (930°F) without cracking and typically has a melting point of around 1650°C (3000°F).
