Prism Research Glass is proud to offer the Vacuum Jacketed and Silvered Oldershaw Distillation Column. We strip silver the vacuum jackets for side profile viewing. Uniform perforated plates allow even dispersement of distillate and condensate during operation. Columns are offered with beaded pipe connections. For pipe couplings see PRG-8022. Columns are fabricated per order and can be customized to suit your applications.
Borosilicate Glassware Information
Prism Research Glass makes our Vacuum Jacketed and Silvered Oldershaw Distillation Column of Borosilicate Glassware often referred to as Pyrex. Borosilicate glassware is made from a blend of silica and boron trioxide. It is the standard for laboratory use because of its chemical resistance to various chemicals. This resistance makes it suitable for diverse laboratory applications. It is highly resistant to chemical attack by most substances, including water, acids, and organic solvents.
Borosilicate has a low coefficient of thermal expansion which means it can withstand rapid temperature changes. It can typically handle temperature ranges between -80°C (-112°F) and 500°C (930°F) without cracking and typically has a melting point of around 1650°C (3000°F).
