Description
The Heavy Duty Pilot Plant Stir Bearing is constructed from a 25% glass filled Teflon, having a very low frictional drag. Ideal for rotatory applications. The removable interior lip seal is S Poly-imide (Torlon) material, which has a lower frictional drag. Prism Research Glass, Inc. rates the bearing for full vacuum and pressures to 5 psi. Temperature range of -350° to 500° F. Offered with a 45/50 inner o-ring tapered joint connection or beaded pipe. See PRG-8022 for beaded pipe couplings. Bearings fit shafts with a 3/4″ (19mm) and 1.14″ (31.8mm) diameters.
Teflon Information
Teflon, also known as PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), is a synthetic fluoropolymer with a wide range of applications due to its unique properties. Key specifications include high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance, low friction, and non-stick characteristics.

It is the standard for laboratory use because of its chemical resistance to various chemicals. This resistance makes it suitable for diverse laboratory applications. It is highly resistant to chemical attack by most substances, including water, acids, and organic solvents.
Borosilicate has a low coefficient of thermal expansion which means it can withstand rapid temperature changes. It can typically handle temperature ranges between -80°C (-112°F) and 500°C (930°F) without cracking and typically has a melting point of around 1650°C (3000°F).
